Upcoming Events 2012
Chrysalis Dance has been invited to perform with ConTempo String Quartet as part of Music for Galway.
They will perform in The Town Hall Theatre, Galway, on Sunday 22nd January at 3 pm
Judith Sibley will choreograph and perform a new pas de deux with Leighton Morrison. Three talented members of Youth Ballet West, Niamh Carey, Brigitte O'Reilly and Gemma Brook will also be dancing with Chrysalis on this occasion.
The piece will be set to 5 Fugues by Bach, which has been arranged for string quartet by Mozart (K. 405). There is a melodic line which is repeated in different voices, chasing after the first statement and in sequence. They are sparse and very beautiful and Sibley's work will be a wonderful addition to the Festival.
Chrysalis Dance will be presenting their new work ‘Thought Once Was' on National Tour in May.
The work will premiere at The Drogheda Arts Festival on Sunday 6th May, and then go on National Tour to Dublin (The Draiocht, Blanchardstown) on 8th May, Lisburn (Island Arts Centre) 9th May, Carraig on Shannon (The Dock) 10th May and returning to Galway (The Black Box) on Friday 11th May.

‘The Space Where Thought Once Was', is an exploration into Dementia.
A glimpse into the minds of those in whom all powers of representation and imagery, all sense of the concrete, all sense of reality are being destroyed. Souls without a past or future stuck in a constantly changing meaningless moment.
The piece is set to an original score by American composer Jesse Ronneau whose haunting work is characterised by an exploration of advanced instrumental techniques.
The second work is entitled ‘Scatenato'.
Scatenato is taken from the Italian musical term, meaning wild, unchained, and loose.
The company will be joined on-stage by the Contempo String Quartet, Galway's Ensemble in Residence. These virtuoso musicians will perform an original mix of Shostakovich's string quartets 8, 10 and 11 and George Crumbs Black Angels String quartet. The choreography weaves fluidly between moments of conscious abandonment, passionate engagement and elements of stillness and power.
