OUTREACH / EDUCATION
Through its outreach programme Chrysalis hopes to :
1. Develop meaningful partnerships with local community organisations
2. Participate in local arts and community development networks
3. Bring it’s unique style of dance to a new generation through active participation
Chrysalis Outreach operates on various levels, sometimes offering quite short, workshops whilst on tour; in other instances entering long-term partnerships as is the case with Youth Ballet West.
Many of the Chrysalis dancers are qualified and experienced teachers of dance with the IDTA, RAD and ISTD, maintaining a high code of practice. Sibley has been an international tutor for tha RAD and was also the chair of the Irish Regional Committee. Currently she is on the Board of Directors of the Ballet Forum.
These professionals offer fun and educational workshops in many venues that the company tour. They have proven extremely popular with a variety of age groups and levels of dance experience, and offer a challanging insight into the choreographic process.
The company has an on-going apprenticeship programme with Youth Ballet West, Galway.To date seven talented students have been offered apprenticeships with the company and have performed in their works. Sharing a home with the Corrib Dance Academy, students are given a unique insight into the work of the company and are invited to watch rehearsals and see the work as it progresses.
Continuing to develop a wider interest in dance in our community, Chrysalis is now offering adult ballet classes for both beginners and intermediate levels. Contact us for more information.
