Strings going in one direction being pulled in another, guitar strings, heart strings, strings that bind us to one another brothers, lovers, friends. Strings is a unique collaboration between Chrysalis Dance Artistic Director Judith Sibley and singer/songwriter Paddy Casey.
The choreographic concept fuses the beautiful tradition and technique of classical ballet with modern and original movement to create a full length neo-classical ballet. The work is accessible, captivating, contemporary and at times extremely moving.Paddy Casey provides the soundtrack. Casey ( twice winner of the Meteor Award for best Male Singer) has put together a collection of his music; some new, some old, all remixed to fit the style of the piece. Caseys music is raw, brutally honest and evokes a visceral response from its audience. Judith Sibleys choreography snatches emotion from this music and delivers a modern dance piece that manages to evoke beauty, passion and grace.
